Business Information

Business Name: Diverse farming (for now - no permanent name yet)
Business Description

We have a 12 Ha small holding/farm with ample water supply where we are currently busy with: Diverse farming consisting of a growing, intensive, commercial, mixed farming whereby methods of farming with a more natural approach will be used as far as possible, such as free range pigs, goats, broiler meat chickens and chicken eggs (including organic eggs). Also then lessening pesticide usage and concentrating more on companion planting methods for both vegetables and fruit trees.
Officially started May 2018 after leaving (due to various reasons) a 20 year service in the Emergency Medical Services. Began raising layer chicks that started laying eggs end of August 2018. Also during May 2018 started with raising broiler chicks for selling when ready as live chickens. In between it all also planted hydroponically grown vegetables where space and needed equipment/supplies were available. From November 2018 onward to December 2018, about a 100 fruit trees (variety of trees) were meant to be bought and planted. During the first half of 2019 goats and pigs need to be added and more hydroponically grown vegetables stations will be added as well. During 2019 more fruit trees will be added. Cattle will be added to this diverse farming at a later stage. The produce and livestock are currently sold locally and some not local, at competitive prices and the future added livestock and crops will also be sold at competitive prices. This business is still in the baby phase but is growing.
