Little Lads is a unique and trendy clothing brand for all those precious Little Lads out there. We strive to provide the highest quality, locally produced clothing and accessories from sizes new born to toddler with an emphasis on quality and comfort. We love it when Little Lads Dress like Gentlemen and Play like Rascals!
It all started in 2014 when I was looking for a special outfit for my own baby boy. As the stores and baby boutiques were stocked with the most beautiful girls wear, the options for boys were very limited. After discussions with other moms and on various mother/baby groups on social media, I realised that there was a huge gap in the market for trendy, good quality and affordable baby boys (Little Lads) clothing.
I started selling a few items out of hand with Facebook and word of mouth as my marketing tools. It soon started growing and Little Lads was officially registered as a company in 2017.
This year we are working twice as hard to double our sales. In 2018 we got selected as a preferred supplier to the 30+ Kids Emporium Franchise stores throughout South Africa. In addition we are supplying many other baby boutiques and still receive requests from baby stores to be stockists for the Little Lads clothing range. We are also building the Little Lads brand step-by-step by retailing directly to the public via Facebook, Whatsapp and Baby Shows/Expos.How will you use the R100k prize in your business?
40k investment into either starting up Little Lads’ own production line or investment into an existing CMT to improve their quality of work. Purchasing of more sewing machines and training of staff will have to take place to setup a small production line.
10k Investment into an online accounting system (e.g. Sage or Xero) and training to make our life easier managing the finances.
20k to setup a basic website utilising existing retail website templates such as Shopify. Good quality pictures will have to be taken and edited for the website.
30k to further develop myself and up-skill add-hoc workers with the idea to let them become permanent employees of Little Lads.
