KDS Printing has grown from a humble home business to a popular print company of exceptional service delivery, great customer value and excellent results across 4 core segments – Corporate Identity design; Promotional Items; Screenprinting & Embroidery; and Large Format & Signage.
Beginning my career as Junior Primary specialist educator, I opted to be a stay-at-home mum after my first born child’s arrival in order to home school my two children. It was during this time that I started a small, home based printing company to supplement the household income, which was the birth of KDS Printing. Through the years of honing our skills, networks and all-round business expertise, my team and I have grown KDS Printing into a full service print and design specialist house – specializing in professional litho and digital printing. Our core services stretch across the 4 above mentioned segments, to include offerings such as business cards, flyers, brochures, newsletters, quotation books, invoice books, receipt books, job card books, medical stationery, school stationery office stationery, signage, embroidery and screen printing. We also specialize in bulk copying and binding.
KDS began as the reliable, local community printer with a generalist offering – earning a reputation for excellence and service over our 25 years in the game. However, to remain relevant in an increasingly competitive industry meant reinventing our brand. KDS has thus, in recent years, been strategically re-positioned to focus less on the technology and the service features like many competitors, and rather on a customer-centric approach in terms of how the tech and features can be used to enhance the customer’s experience and help them reach their business goals. The reason for this shift was the shift in how the market was viewing businesses – it was about building brands, and building trust through the print medium, not treating print as a commodity product, that would earn us a competitive advantage.
See, we realise that first impressions are forever, so we want to make them count in our customer’s favour by creating an effective, printed brand identity across channels for our customers’ businesses. In that sense, we have moved beyond being just a transactional business, to being a long-term PARTNER to our customers’ businesses in helping them “Impress with your first impression”.How will you use the R100k prize in your business?
We aim to allocate the prize money toward a capital investment in the technology needed to create more value for our customers in what we’ve identified as strategic market segments – commercial digital print orders, and promotional items.
We will invest primarily in a Roland Large Format Printer and Cutter to create quicker turnaround times and greater value for our customers, by under promising and over delivering.
The other portion of the prize money, will be invested towards a Mug Press and heat transfer machines to increase productivity and revenue streams for our Promotional Items market segment.
